Vor ein paar Tagen bin ich auf einen Beitrag auf Facebook gestoßen. Der Ersteller des Beitrags, ein Hip Hop Beatmaker, der auf youtube seine Instrumentals veröffentlicht, wollte wissen, wie er größere Reichweite erreichen kann und in den Suchen und Ergebnissen bei Youtube höher eingestuft und gerankt werden kann. Das hat er geschrieben:

"I’m struggling to get more than 10+ views on my beat vids. I’m utilising tubebuddy to look at other type beats that are ranking and using score high tags. I’m just not seeing results. 

Any direction on what I may be doing wrong. Are my beats just trash? I have no idea anymore. Self doubt is becoming a problem. I’ve been uploading beats around 4 months and haven’t made a sale. I’m looking for any guidance you may have."

In den Kommentaren fanden sich einige gute Ideen und Ratschläge, die zur Lösung seines Problems beitragen können. Ich habe mir überlegt, da ich weiß, dass viele neue Produzenten und Beatmaker das selbe Problem haben und nicht genug Aufrufe bekommen, die besten Ratschläge (aus meiner Sicht) hier für euch aufzulisten (Ein weiterer Part kommt in ein paar Tagen). Natürlich spielt bei Youtube auch Glück eine Rolle, aber wenn ihr diese Tipps anwendet, seid ihr auf dem richtigen Weg:

1) Konsistenz und Ausdauer: "It's not an overnight thing. YouTube has billions and billions of videos uploaded on it. People are constantly uploading. 99% of it is from nonames who'll never get any views. Make yourself stand out." Wenn man nicht ein riesen Glück hat und quasi einen viralen Beat landet, dann ist es notwendig, dauerhaft zu uploaden. Mein Ratschlag wären 3-4 Beats pro Woche. Das ist viel und erfordert viel Arbeit, aber nur so erhöht man seine Chancen, dass ein Beat mal gut eingestuft wird und hoch in der Suche erscheint. Wer nur 1 mal pro Woche hochlädt, geht in der Masse der Uploads anderer Youtuber unter.

2) Keywords: Ich habe das Gefühl, dass Keywords bei Youtube nicht mehr so wichtig sind, wie sie einmal waren. Watchtime ist wichtiger, denn es kommt darauf an, wie lange dein Content die Zuschauer auf youtube halten kann. Das ist deren Ziel. "Search for fondamental SEO techniques. it is not a marketing problem, but is due to a lack of use of keywords." Dennoch habe ich gemerkt, dass es vorteilhaft ist, nicht zu viele verschiedene Keywords zu verwenden, sondern auch dort konsistent und stringent zu sein. Bewerbe deine Videos mit den gleichen Keywords, so lange der Stil stimmt (z.B. in jedem Video Old School Hip Hop Beat oder Drake Type Beat 2020 usw.) Durch das dauernde Benutzen der gleichen Keywords fällt es youtube a) leichter, deinen Content und Channel thematisch einzuordnen und b) erhöhst du deine Chance, in einem Keyword hoch zu ranken. Versuche auch, keine high traffic keywords zu nutzen (Drake Type Beat ist overused, das z.B. ist ein schlechtes Keyword zum ranken.)

3) Branding und Inhalt: "try to stay on one style. not drake, then big l, then dababy then oldschool. People will come to your channel if they know what they can expect. Its also a form of branding." Ich habe auch, als mein Channel noch kleiner war, versucht, über Trends wie bspw. Drake oder Post Malone Type Beats Traffic auf meinen Channel zu bekommen und zu versuchen, hoch zu ranken (da diese Type Beats häufig gesucht werden). Das Problem war, dass ich als Oldschool Beat Channel begonnen hatte. Diese beiden Stile passen nicht zusammen. Punkt a) deine Subscriber kommen auf deinen Channel, weil sie einen bestimmten Inhalt erwarten. Wenn ich einen Channel für Finanzinfos abonniere, und dieser plötzlich anfängt, viel Mode oder zu Restaurantbewertungen zu posten, dann schaue ich weniger oder deabonniere. Das ist schlecht für dein Ranking und lässt deine zukünftigen Beats schlechter ranken. Deine Chancen sinken. Bleibe also deinem Stil treu. Magst du Trap beats? dann bleibe dabei. Old School? Mache nur das. Lofi? Haue einen lofi beat nach dem anderen raus, mit den gleichen oder ähnlichen Tags.

Letzten Endes sind die Kriterien Konsistenz, Beharrlichkeit, Qualität und Glück die entscheidenden Faktoren. Vernachlässige niemals deine Qualität, um möglichst viele Beats hochzuladen. Arbeite notfalls im Stillen bis du gut genug bist, und dann lade so viel wie möglich hoch.

There were some great ideas and advice in the comments that can help solve his problem. I thought about it, knowing that a lot of new producers and beatmakers have the same problem and not getting enough views, to list the best advice (from my point of view) here for you (another part coming in a few days). Of course, luck also plays a role on Youtube, but if you use these tips, you are on the right track:

1) Consistency and persistence: "It's not an overnight thing. YouTube has billions and billions of videos uploaded on it. People are constantly uploading. 99% of it is from nonames who'll never get any views. Make yourself stand out." If you are not very lucky and land a viral beat, then it is necessary to upload permanently. My advice would be 3-4 beats a week. That's a lot and requires a lot of work, but this is the only way to increase your chances of a beat getting a good rating and appearing high in the search. If you upload only once a week, you will get lost in the mass of other Youtubers uploads.

2) Keywords: I have the feeling that keywords are no longer as important on Youtube as they used to be. Watchtime is more important because it depends on how long your content can keep viewers on youtube. That is their goal. "Search for fundamental SEO techniques. Nevertheless, I noticed that it is advantageous not to use too many different keywords, but also to be consistent and stringent there. Promote your videos with the same keywords, as long as the style is right (e.g. in every video Old School Hip Hop Beat or Drake Type Beat 2020 etc.) By constantly using the same keywords, it is easier for youtube a) to make your content and channel thematically and b) you increase your chance of ranking high in a keyword. Also try not to use high traffic keywords (Drake Type Beat is overused, e.g. this is a bad keyword to rank.)

When my channel was still smaller, I also tried to get type beats traffic to my channel via trends such as Drake or Post Malone and to try to rank high (as these type beats are often searched for). The problem was, I started out as an old school Beat Channel. These two styles don't go together. Point a) your subscribers come to your channel because they expect certain content. If I subscribe to a channel for financial information and it suddenly starts posting a lot of fashion or restaurant reviews, then I watch less or unsubscribe. This is bad for your ranking and makes your future beats rank worse. Your chances are going down. So stay true to your style. Do you like trap beats then stick with it. Old school? Just do that. Lofi? Drop one lofi beat after another, with the same or similar tags.

Ultimately, consistency, persistence, quality and luck are the decisive factors. Never neglect your quality in order to upload as many beats as possible. If necessary, work in silence until you are good enough, and then upload as much as you can.
